C.A.N, ONLY ACTING AS THE MORAL CONSCIENCE OF THE NATION.-Rev Dr Innocent: Vice Chairman, North East

By the Vice Chairman, North East Zonal CAN, Rev Dr Innocent Solomon

The call by the National body of CAN to fast and pray and conduct peaceful rallies within the premises of worship places is well informed. This is considering the deplorable state of insecurity and other self inflicting social problems in Nigeria today; the unwarranted killings, kidnappings, armed banditry and the near anarchy in the nation.

Speaking today during the Sunday worship marking the end of three days of fasting and prayers called by the National CAN President. Rev Solomon called on all well meaning bodies, organizations and concerned citizens of this great nation to throw their weight behind the call to pray and to ask God's intervention to rescue our country.

It is sad that at this point in time when Nigeria should be consolidating her democracy,  good governance and achieving high levels of infrastructural development and becoming an economic giant not only in Africa but in the comity of nations, it is sad to say that some strange,  unacceptable ideologically based violence and terrorism supported by the fertile ground of apparent failure in the system has thrown our nation into catastrophic condition setting us terribly back by so many decades.
Nobody should rejoice at the state of our nation today.

With the huge resources our nation is endowed with both human and natural, the level of poverty and infrastructural deficit and now the intractable security challenges are simply unacceptable and unbearable. Worse still is the gradual disintegration been witnessed in the once united entity called Nigeria.

We hope President Buhari will take decisive steps now.
